SILO

SILO was conceived from a desire to innovate the food industry whilst demonstrating respect: respect for the environment, respect for the way their food is generated and respect for the nourishment given to our bodies. This means that they create everything from its whole form cutting out food miles and over-processing whilst preserving nutrients and the integrity of the ingredients in the process.

Their furniture and fittings are created from a desire to re-use. They choose up-cycling before recycling. Their furniture is made from materials that would otherwise have been wasted and crafted with innovation to serve function. They have plates formed from plastic bags, tables made from industrial floor tiles, work benches crafted from filing cabinet frames and yes, they use jam jars for glasses, but for them this is no gimmick, they are plentiful, multi functional, hard-wearing and the not insubstantial energy that would have been used to re-cycle them is saved.

Douglas McMaster Owner of SILO

We worked with Doug and his team to develop a sustainable solution for a new floating cocktail bar and individual cocktail tables, to coincide with the launch of their new range of beautiful cocktails.

Doug introduced us to the guys over at M-24, who design and make bags from recycled truck tarpaulin. They had access to a fantastic material which we had not come across before, a recycled truck tyre rubber which was perfect for the interior scheme.

For the tables we developed a design incorporating some of the fantastic material from Smile Plastics.

After we had sketched out some ideas and measurements we confirmed the final design with Doug and the team, and then begun the build and install.

What we ended up with was a beautiful floating bar solution that gives a nod to the design of the existing floating bar, but using a totally original and beautiful material, and four beautiful cocktail tables.
